หมูป่าอวดดีตัวหนึ่ง ที่หลงคิดว่าสามารถเอาชนะราชสีห์เจ้าป่าได้ จึงได้เยาะเย้ย และตกลงรับการประลองกับราชสีห์ โดยวางแผนใช้แผนการสกปรกในการต่อสู้ครั้งนี้ มาติดตามกันว่าหมูป่าจะชนะหรือไม่
ในป่าใหญ่แห่งหนึ่งมีสัตว์น้อยใหญ่หลายชนิดได้อาศัยอยู่ร่วมกัน ในป่านี้มีบึงใหญ่ น้ำใสเย็น สัตว์ทุกตัวที่กินอาหารแล้ว จะพากันมากินน้ำที่บึง บางตัวลงไปแช่น้ำเย็น ๆ เล่นสบายใจ บึงใหญ่นี้จึงเป็นสถานที่รวมสัตว์ป่าที่มากินน้ำเล่นน้ำตามเวลาของพวกมัน
ราชสีห์เป็นสัตว์ตัวหนึ่งที่ชอบมากินน้ำที่บึง ราชสีห์ตัวนี้ร่างกายสูงใหญ่ แข็งแรง รักความสะอาด เล็บของมันแหลมคมยาวใหญ่ กรงเล็บสามารถตะปบสัตว์ตัวเล็กกว่าให้ตายได้ในทันที ท่าทางในการเดินของมันดูสง่าน่าเกรงขาม และยิ่งใหญ่สมกับเป็นเจ้าป่า สัตว์ต่าง ๆ ยอมรับว่าราชสีห์เป็นเจ้าป่าผู้ทรงพลัง มีอำนาจมาก สัตว์ทุกตัวต่างเกรงกลัวราชสีห์ ไม่มีสัตว์ตัวไหนกล้ามายุ่งด้วย หรือทำให้ราชสีห์โกรธ
ที่บึงนี้ยังมีหมูป่าอีกตัวหนึ่งที่ชอบมาเป็นประจำ มันชอบใช้จมูกดุนดินเพื่อขุดหาอาหารใต้ดินใกล้บึง ขณะหาอาหารมันส่งเสียงครืด ๆ อยู่ตลอดเวลา นอกจากมาหาอาหารและกินน้ำแล้ว ยังชอบมานอนแช่น้ำเล่นในวันที่อากาศร้อน
หมูป่าตัวอื่น ๆ ในป่ามีรูปร่างผอมและสูง หัวยาวและแหลม มีเจ้าตัวนี้ที่สูงใหญ่กำยำล่ำสันกว่าเพื่อน เขี้ยวใหญ่ยาวโค้งปลายแหลมคม กีบเท้าแข็งแรง มันเป็นหัวหน้าฝูง ทำหน้าที่ปกป้องสมาชิกหมูป่าในฝูง หากสัตว์อื่นมารังแกฝูง มันจะพุ่งชนสุดแรงด้วยเขี้ยวที่ยาวโง้งออกมานอกปาก สัตว์อื่นจะแพ้มันและวิ่งหนีไปอย่างเร็ว แต่มันยังไม่เคยพบกับราชสีห์เจ้าป่าเลย
วันหนึ่งราชสีห์ออกมาจากถ้ำ มาหาอาหารกิน แล้วมากินน้ำที่บึง ขณะก้มกินน้ำ สายตาก็เห็นหมูป่าตัวใหญ่เดินอยู่แถวนั้น จึงบอกตัวเองว่า “ข้าจะต้องจับหมูตัวนี้กินให้ได้ ตัวใหญ่ เนื้อคงหวานอร่อย” แต่ราชสีห์ฉลาดที่ไม่ทำให้หมูป่าตกใจกลัวจนไม่กล้ามาที่บึงอีก มันจึงเดินห่างจากบ่อน้ำเพื่อไปหาที่ซ่อนอย่างเงียบ ๆ หมูป่าซึ่งกำลังเล่นน้ำอย่างเพลิดเพลิน เหลือบตาไปเห็นเข้าพอดี จึงเดินขึ้นมาจากบึง มันพูดกับตัวเองว่า “เฮ่ย ราชสีห์กลัวเราด้วย ไม่งั้นคงไม่เดินหนีไปแอบอย่างนี้หรอก” คิดได้ดังนี้มันยิ่งเผลอตัว หลงลืมและคิดไปเองว่ามันคือผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดในป่านี้ มันร้องเรียกราชสีห์เสียงดังว่า “ราชสีห์ เจ้ากลัวข้าด้วยหรือ ดีละ เรามาสู้กันดีกว่า อย่าเพิ่งเดินหนี”
“โฮก โฮก โฮก” ราชสีห์ร้องคำรามเสียงดังเพื่อแสดงอำนาจ ก่อนจะตอบว่า “วันนี้เราอย่าเพิ่งสู้กันเลย ไว้รออีกเจ็ดวันมาประลองกำลังกันนะเจ้าหมู” หมูตอบรับทันทีเพราะมันท้าเอาไว้ แต่ก็อดสะดุ้งกับเสียงคำรามไม่ได้ เพราะดังสนั่นลั่นป่าจริง ๆ “ได้เลย อย่าลืมนัดเสียล่ะ” แล้วทั้งสองฝ่ายก็แยกย้ายกันไปตามทางของตน หมูป่าจอมโวเมื่อกลับมาเข้าฝูงก็คุยโม้โอ้อวด มันรู้สึกมีความสุขมากที่ได้ท้าทายราชสีห์ให้มาต่อสู้กัน ซึ่งราชสีห์ไม่กล้าต่อสู้กับมันในวันนี้ แต่เดินหนีกลับไป และบอกว่าอีกเจ็ดวันให้มาต่อสู้กัน
ฝูงหมูป่าได้ยินเช่นนั้น ต่างตกใจกลัวมาก แล้วพากันตำหนิเจ้าหมูป่าตัวก่อเรื่อง ตัวหนึ่งตำหนิว่า “แค่เสียงคำรามของราชสีห์ สัตว์อื่นก็หนีตายกันแล้ว แกยังบังอาจคิดต่อสู้กับเจ้าป่าอีกหรือ” อีกตัวหนึ่งพูดต่อ “เขี้ยวยาวโง้งที่ปากแก คิดว่าจะพุ่งชนราชสีห์ได้หรือ” อีกตัวพูดต่อ “ฉันว่าแกคงโดนกรงเล็บตะปบเป็นแน่ เจ้าหมูอ้วนเอ๋ย” และอีกหลายตัวพูดเหมือนกันว่า “แกหาเรื่องเดือดร้อนมาให้พวกเราแล้ว เราจะอยู่ที่นี่ได้ยังไง”
ลูกหมูป่าหลายตัวร้องกระจองอแงด้วยความกลัวราชสีห์ “แม่จ๋า หนูกลัวราชสีห์จะมากินหนู” แม่หมูป่าพยายามปลอบลูก “โอ๋ โอ๋ อย่าร้องไห้นะลูกนะ เดี๋ยวปู่คงช่วยพวกเราคิดว่าจะทำยังไงดี” หมูป่าตัวก่อเรื่องหน้าจ๋อยและเครียดมากที่บังอาจไปท้าทายเจ้าป่า และไม่รู้ถึงกำลังแรงของราชสีห์ มันกำลังโดนเพื่อน ๆ และญาติพี่น้องในฝูงด่าว่าในการกระทำที่ขาดสติเพราะหลงตัวเอง
หมูป่าชราตัวหนึ่งนั่งฟังอยู่เงียบ ๆ พักหนึ่งจึงพูดขึ้นว่า “เอาละ เอาละ เจ้าหมูมันไปก่อเรื่องแล้ว ตอนนี้ต้องหาทางแก้ปัญหา เอางี้แล้วกัน วันนี้เจ้าจงไปที่ท้ายป่า ที่นั่นมีหมู่บ้านชาวป่าอยู่แห่งหนึ่ง ชาวป่าขุดหลุมทำที่ถ่ายอุจจาระของคนในหมู่บ้านเอาไว้ที่ท้ายหมู่บ้าน เจ้าจงเอาตัวลงไปคลุกกับอุจจาระเน่าเหม็น แล้วปล่อยให้แห้งติดตัวทิ้งไว้เจ็ดวัน พอครบกำหนดให้เจ้าไปอาบน้ำค้างตอนรุ่งเช้า เพื่อให้อุจจาระแห้งนั้นกลับเปียกชื้น และส่งกลิ่นเน่าเหม็นรุนแรงขึ้น ที่สำคัญคือ เมื่อตอนที่เจ้าพบกับราชสีห์ เจ้าต้องไปยืนเหนือลมนะ กลิ่นเน่าเหม็นจะได้โชยไปทางราชสีห์ เหม็นจัดอย่างนี้ ราชสีห์คงทนไม่ไหวหรอก เจ้าต้องรอดชีวิตได้แน่” เมื่อเจ้าหมูป่าได้ยินดังนั้น มันจึงรีบวิ่งไปที่ท้ายป่าทันที
เมื่อถึงวันนัด หมูป่าไปพบราชสีห์โดยมีอุจจาระเน่าเหม็นเปียกชื้นเปื้อนเปรอะทั่วทั้งตัว ราชสีห์เห็นก็รู้ว่านี่เป็นวิธีการเอาตัวรอดของหมูป่า จึงนึกนิยมความคิด และราชสีห์เป็นสัตว์ที่รักความสะอาด จึงพูดขึ้นว่า “เจ้าฉลาดที่รู้จักเอาตัวรอดได้ในยามที่มีภัยมาถึงตัว ข้าจะไว้ชีวิตเจ้า ให้เจ้าเป็นผู้ชนะ เพราะข้าเองไม่ต้องการถูกต้องตัวของเจ้าที่เปื้อนสิ่งสกปรกเน่าเหม็น” แล้วราชสีห์ก็เดินจากไปเพราะเกลียดกลิ่นที่ตัวหมู
เจ้าหมูป่ายังหลงผิดเข้าใจว่ามันได้เป็นผู้ชนะราชสีห์จริง ๆ จึงพูดจาเยาะเย้ยราชสีห์ว่า “โถ่ นึกว่าจะแน่ ไหนใคร ๆ บอกว่าเป็นเจ้าป่าไง ที่แท้ก็ขี้ขลาดกลัวเรา” ราชสีห์หันกลับมาจ้องหน้าเจ้าหมูป่าผู้โอหัง เบาปัญญา พร้อมกับคำรามลั่นป่า “โฮกกก” เจ้าหมูป่าแค่ได้ยินเสียงก็สะดุ้งกลัวตัวสั่นงันงก แต่แล้วราชสีห์ก็หันกลับไป และเดินจากไปอย่างสง่างาม พร้อมกับพูดกับตัวเองว่า “เจ้าหมูป่าตัวนี้ เห็นทีจะต้องตายเพราะปากเข้าสักวัน แต่วันนี้ข้าคงกินเจ้าไม่ไหวหรอก เหม็นเหลือเกิน ขอกลับไปอ้วกที่ถ้ำก่อนดีกว่า วันหน้าค่อยว่ากันใหม่” พอราชสีห์เดินลับตาไป เจ้าหมูป่าจึงตะโกนลั่นป่าว่า “ข้าคือผู้ชนะ ข้าคือเจ้าป่าตัวจริง”
หมูป่าดีใจมากรีบกลับไปเล่าให้พรรคพวกในฝูงฟัง “ไชโย ศึกใหญ่กับราชสีห์วันนี้ ข้าเป็นฝ่ายชนะ เจ้าราชสีห์ขี้ขลาดวิ่งหนีกลับถ้ำไปแล้ว และตอนนี้ข้าต่างหากคือเจ้าป่าตัวจริง” แทนที่ฝูงหมูป่าจะร่วมแสดงความยินดีกับมัน กลับไม่มีหมูป่าตัวใดเชื่อคำพูดของมันเลย มีแต่เสียงร้องไห้ หวาดกลัวว่าราชสีห์จะย้อนกลับมาทำร้ายพวกมันอีก
จนในที่สุด จึงได้ข้อสรุปจากหมูป่าชราว่า “ข้าคิดว่าพวกเราจะต้องย้ายถิ่นที่อยู่กันแล้ว ไป ไปแยกย้ายกันเก็บของ แล้วมารวมตัวกันที่นี่ ข้าจะพาพวกเราอพยพไปอยู่ที่อื่น ไปตามครอบครัวของพวกเจ้ามาให้หมด เราต้องรีบไปเดี๋ยวนี้ เพราะหากราชสีห์มาพบพวกเราเข้าอีก คราวนี้คงไม่มีตัวใดรอดชีวิตไปจากกรงเล็บของเจ้าป่าผู้แข็งแรงได้”
ฝูงหมูป่าต่างวุ่นวาย ร้องไห้ระงม หมูป่าตัวหนึ่งเอ่ยขึ้นด้วยความโมโห “เพราะแกตัวเดียวที่ทำให้ญาติพี่น้องเราต้องลำบาก” อีกตัวหนึ่งพูดต่อว่า “จริงด้วย ถึงแม้แกรู้รักษาตัวรอดได้ แต่ทำให้ผู้อื่นเดือดร้อน เพราะปากเสียนี่แหละ” หมูป่าชราได้พูดสอนเจ้าหมูตัวต้นเหตุว่า “การกระทำและคำพูดที่ขาดความรู้และสติของเจ้า นำความเดือดร้อนมาให้ตนเองและผู้อื่น”
หลังจากนั้นไม่นานฝูงหมูป่าทั้งหมดก็ได้มารวมตัวกัน โดยมีหมูป่าชราเป็นผู้นำพาหมูป่าทั้งหมดย้ายบ้านไปอยู่ที่อื่น โดยมีเจ้าหมูป่าตัวก่อเรื่องเดินคอตกตามฝูงไปเป็นตัวสุดท้าย โดยไม่มีใครยอมพูดคุยกับมันอีกเลยตลอดการเดินทาง

In a large forest, big and small animals live together peacefully. There is a big swamp with clear and cool water. After eating, all the animals will drink the water and dip themselves into this pond. Hence, it is a gathering place for wildlife that come to swim and drink in their own time.
The lion is one animal that likes to drink from the swamp. He is tall and strong and loves cleanliness. He has long, sharp nails, and his claws can pounce on small animals and kill them instantly. His gait is also majestic and intimidating, appropriate for the title “King of the Jungle.” The animals accept that the lion is a mighty and powerful animal. They are all fearful of him, and no one dares to mess with or anger him.
There is also a wild board that likes to come to the same swamp regularly. He uses his nose to dig into the ground for food near the swamp. He always makes a snorting sound while searching for food. Besides looking for food and drinking water, he also likes to take a dip in the water on a hot day.
The other wild boars in the forest have long and tall bodies with elongated and pointed heads. However, this boar is taller and stockier than his friends. His fangs are long, large, and curved with sharp ends and his hooves are strong. He is the leader of the pack and is responsible for protecting the other wild boars in the herd. If another animal bullies the herd, he will smash into it with his curved, sharp teeth protruding from his mouth. The other animal will lose to him and run away immediately. However, he still has not met the lion, the King of the Jungle.
One day, the lion walks out of his cave to look for food and comes to the swamp the drink some water. While bending down to drink, he sees a large wild boar walking around. He says to himself, “I must catch this boar to eat. He is big. His meat must be tender and sweet.” But the lion is smart not to startle the boar, which could scare him from coming to the swamp again. He walks away from the swamp and hides in a quiet place. The wild boar, while swimming joyfully in the water, glanced over and saw him. He walks up from the swamp and says to himself, “Hey, the lion must be afraid of me, or he wouldn’t have walked away to hide like this.” Upon thinking this, he becomes careless and believes that he is the mightiest animal in the jungle. He calls out to the lion loudly, “Lion, are you afraid of me? Great. Why don’t we battle? Don’t walk away just yet.”
“Roarrrrrrr,” the lion roars loudly to show his power before replying, “We don’t have to fight today. Let’s wait another seven days, and we will have a duel, pig.” The pig accepts immediately because he is the one to challenge the lion, but he can’t help but be startled by the roar, for the loud sound rang throughout the forest, “Sure, don’t forget our appointment.” The two parties go their separate ways. When the arrogant wild boar returns to this herd, he starts bragging. He is overjoyed that he can challenge the lion to a duel. The lion must have been afraid of him, for he walked away and told him to come back in seven days for the fight.
Upon hearing this, the herd of wild boars becomes frightened and condemns the wild boar, who is the culprit. One boar criticizes, “Just a single roar from the lion and all the animals scamper away. How dare you think you can fight the King of the Jungle?” Another one chimes in, “You think you can smash into the lion with your curved, long teeth?”, another continues, “I think he will pounce on you with his claws, you fat pig.” Many others say the same thing, “You have brought us trouble. How will we stay here now?” Many baby boars cry out in fear of the lion, “Mommy, I’m scared the lion will eat me.” Mother boar tries to console her son, “Shh, shh, don’t cry, my baby. Grandpa will help us figure out what to do.” The troublemaking boar became very tense and worried for having dared to challenge the King of the Jungle without realizing his strength. He is scolded by his friends and family in the herd for his egotistic act of ignorance.
An old boar sits and listens quietly. After a while, he says, “All right, the boar has caused some trouble. Now we will have to solve this mess. Let’s do this. Go to the back of the forest today, and you will find a village of forest people. These villagers have dug a hole for defecation. You shall roll your body in the foul-smelling feces and leave it to dry for seven days. When the seven days are up, you shall shower in the morning dew to make the dried muck wet again, sending a strong, rancid stench. Most importantly, when you meet the lion, you shall stand north of the wind, so your odor will waft over to him. He won’t be able to bear your disgusting stench, and you will surely survive.” Upon hearing this, the boar hastily runs to the back of the forest.
On the day of the meeting, the wild boar shows up to meet the lion with foul-smelling, wet feces smeared on his entire body. When he sees this, the lion realizes that this is the boar’s trick to survive and applauds his effort. Since the lion is an animal that loves cleanliness, he says, “You are clever to figure out a way to survive when faced with danger. I will spare your life and let you win, for I do not want to touch your foul-smelling body.” The lion walks away in disgust at the boar’s stench. The boar wrongly believes that he has truly defeated the lion and mocks him, “Oh, I thought you were the King of the Jungle. In reality, you’re just a coward who’s afraid of me.” The lion turns back and locks eyes with the arrogant and foolish boar. He roars loudly, “Roarrrrr!” The pig is startled when he hears this and trembles in fear. Then, the lion turns back and walks away gracefully while saying to himself, “This wild boar will one day die because of his mouth. However, I won’t eat you today because of your foul scent. In fact, I will go back to my cave today to vomit from having smelled it. I will see you again someday.” After the lion leaves, the wild boar yells, “I am the winner! I am the real King of the Jungle!”
The wild boar is overjoyed and hurriedly tells the tale to his friends, “Yay! I am the winner of today’s great duel with the lion. The lion is a coward who retreated back to his cave, so I am now the real King of the Jungle.” Instead of congratulating him, none of the wild boars believes a word he says but cries out in fear that the lion will return to hurt them. Eventually, they come to a conclusion from the old boar who says, “I think you all need to find a new place to habitat. Go collect your things, then come gather here. I will take you to a new spot. Go and bring all your family members. We must hurry and leave now, for if the lion finds us, no one will be able to escape his strong claws.” The wild boars moan and cry in chaos, while one wild boar angrily says, “It’s because of you that your family and friends are now in this position. Another boar chimes in, “That’s true. You might know how to survive, but you’ve brought danger to others because of your foul mouth.” The old wild boar teaches the troublemaker boar, “Your actions and words that lack knowledge and consciousness have brought trouble to yourself and others.”
Not long after that, all the wild boars gather together with the old wild boar as a guide leading the other boars to a new location. The troublemaking boar walks dejectedly following his herd, and no one speaks to him for the rest of the journey.
