มาอ่านนิทานดีๆ กับเรื่องราวของนกกระทาฝูงหนึ่งที่ร่วมใจและสามัคคีกันเป็นอย่างดี เพื่อหลบหนีนายพรานมาได้ตลอด วันหนึ่งเกิดทะเลาะและแตกคอกัน ทำให้นายพรานสบโอกาสในความแตกแยกของนกกระทา
นกกระทาทำเงินได้ดี นายพรานที่ไหน ๆ ก็รู้ มันคล้ายไก่ขนาดเล็ก ตัวป้อมสั้นอ้วน สีสันไม่สวยงาม ตามลำตัวมีจุดกระ ๆ ปีกและหางสั้น แต่เป็นสัตว์ที่นิยมเลี้ยงในพื้นที่บ้านไม่แพ้เป็ด ไก่ หรือห่านเลย
แต่มีกระทาฝูงหนึ่ง อาศัยอยู่ใกล้บึง พวกมันรอดพ้นจากการถูกจับจากนายพรานทุกวัน มันจึงยังสามารถใช้ชีวิตอิสระได้ ทุกเช้ามันจะไปหาอาหารในท้องนาที่อยู่ใกล้ ๆ แต่ปัญหาใหญ่ของนกกระทาฝูงนี้ก็คือ นายพราน
“ทำไงดีล่ะ นายพรานคนนี้มีความสามารถพิเศษ เลียนเสียงพวกเราได้เก่งมาก เหมือนมากด้วย โดยเฉพาะเสียงของข้า” หัวหน้าฝูงประชุมเครียด
“ข้าหลงคิดว่าเป็นเสียงของท่านตั้งหลายครั้ง โชคดีที่ไหวตัวทัน” สมาชิกที่เหลือต่างกังวล
“แต่ก็มีพวกเราหลายตัวที่ไม่ได้กลับมาอีกเลยนะ ติดอยู่ในตาข่ายที่นายพรานนั่นดักไว้” สมาชิกเสียงเศร้า
“เราต้องทำอะไรสักอย่าง” หัวหน้าฝูงกล่าว
วันหนึ่ง ฝูงนกกระทาก็จัดประชุมกันอีกครั้ง หัวหน้าฝูงคิดอะไรดี ๆ ได้ จึงเสนอวาระใหม่
“เราจะต้องทำให้เหตุการณ์นี้ยุติลงเสียที ขืนเป็นอย่างนี้ต่อไป พวกเราไม่เหลือแน่” หัวหน้าฝูงกล่าว
“นับแต่นี้ไป หากได้ยินเสียงเรียกของเขาให้สมาชิกที่เหลือ บินออกไปยังท้องนาทันทีนะ แต่พอเขาเหวี่ยงตาข่ายลง ก็ให้พวกเราใช้หัวดันตาข่ายขึ้นพร้อม ๆ กัน แล้วก็บินขึ้นทั้งตาข่ายนั่นแหละ จากนั้นก็บินตรงไปยังพุ่มไม้หนามเลยนะ เมื่อถึงตรงนั้นตาข่ายก็จะพันติดอยู่กับหนามของพุ่มไม้นั้น พวกเจ้าค่อยปลดตัวเองลงมาจากตาข่าย แล้วก็บินหนีไปได้” หัวหน้าฝูงเล่าอย่างมั่นใจ
ความสามัคคีเท่านั้นที่จะช่วยให้งานนี้สำเร็จได้ในทุกวัน ฝูงนกกระทาปฏิบัติตามอย่างเคร่งครัด ทุกครั้งที่พวกมันได้ยินการเลียนเสียงจากนายพราน มันจะยอมให้เขาจับแล้วบินไปตามที่หัวหน้าฝูงบอก ก่อนจะหนีเป็นอิสระไปพร้อม ๆ กันทุกตัว
นานวัน นายพรานล่านกยิ่งกลุ้มใจมากขึ้น เพราะไม่สามาถทำเงินได้จากการล่านกกระทาอีกแล้ว
“ต้องรอให้พวกมันทะเลาะกัน” ภรรยาของนายพรานกล่าว
แล้ววันนั้นก็มาถึง ระหว่างที่ทุกตัวพร้อมใจกันทำตามขั้นตอนจนคุ้นชิน เหตุการณ์หนึ่งก็เกิดขึ้น
“โอ๊ยยยยยยย เจ็บนะ” เจ้านกตัวหนึ่งเกิดไปชนกับนกอีกตัวเข้า
“ขอโทษ ๆ ไม่เห็น ๆๆๆ”
“หมายความว่าไง ไม่เห็น เจ้าตาบอดรึ”
“ข้ายืนยันมันเป็นอุบัติเหตุจริง ๆ”
แต่การทะเลาะกันครั้งนี้ บานปลายกระจายไปทั่ว ฝูงนกกระทาเริ่มแบ่งพรรคแบ่งพวก และต่างมองเห็นกันเป็นศัตรูคู่อาฆาต ในท้องนาเริ่มเต็มไปด้วยเสียงเอะอะของพวกนกกระทา
นายพรานและภรรยายิ้มกว้าง ขณะโยนตาข่ายลงคลุมฝูงนกกระทา
และเนื่องจากมัวคิดเรื่องทะเลาะกัน ฝูงนกกระทาจึงลืมไปว่าเกิดอะไรขึ้น
“เราถูกดักแล้ว” มีตัวหนึ่งร้องบอก
“บินขึ้นทางนี้”
“บินขึ้นทางนั้น”
“อย่าไปเชื่อ ทำไมเราต้องทำตามที่เจ้าบอกทุกครั้งด้วยเล่า”
“นั่นสิ ดีแต่บอก เราเบื่อคำสั่งนี้เต็มทีแล้ว”
ฝูงนกกระทาต่างเถียงกัน แต่ไม่ทันเสียแล้ว นายพรานได้รวบตาข่ายเข้าไว้ทั้งหมดเรียบร้อย ฝูงนกกระทาทุกตัว ถูกขายตลาด นายพรานและภรรยาได้เงินมากมาย
เหตุเกิดจากอุบัติเหตุที่ไม่ได้ตั้งใจ หรือเพราะการไม่ให้อภัยจนเกิดเป็นความไม่สามัคคีกันแน่นะ

The Quails and the Huntsman (นิทานนกกระทากับนายพราน ฉบับภาษาอังกฤษ)
Quails can make you lots of money; any huntsman knows this. They resemble little chicks with short, plump, freckly bodices that lack exciting colors, with tiny wings and stubby feathers. Still, many homes keep them as farm animals, no different from ducks, chickens, or geese.
Yet, a flock of quails living near the swamp has escaped being caught by the hunter. These birds live freely; each morning, they fly to nearby farmland to feed. However, the real danger that they face is the huntsman.
“What should we do? This hunter has a special talent. He can mock our voices really well! It even sounds uncanny, especially MY voice!” exclaims the group leader.
“There were many times that I really thought that was your voice, but thank goodness I realized just in time,” says the other member worriedly.
One day, the flock of quails had another meeting, and the leader came up with a great idea he wanted to share.
“We need to end this once and for all because if we wait, there will be none of us left,” asserts the leader.
“From now on, as soon as you hear my voice calling, I want you all to fly out into the farmland. Then, when he casts the net on us, together, we will use our heads to push up against it and fly away with the net. After that, we will fly into the thorny bushes and let the net be tangled up in them. Now, you can free yourselves from it and fly away,” the chief utters confidently.
Working together in harmony is the only key that makes this mission a success. The flock of birds strictly follow the plan daily, allowing themselves to be captured by the huntsman each time they hear the mocked calls, then triumphantly freeing themselves together all at once.
After a while, the huntsman’s fear worsens as he hasn’t been able to capture any of the quails to sell for money.
“You have to wait for them to fight,” says his wife.
Finally, that day has arrived. While the birds are busy preparing for the mission, a problem arises.
“Ow! That hurts!” a quail yells. One of the birds had mistakenly bumped into him.
“Oh, no. I’m so, so sorry. I didn’t see!”
“What do you mean you didn’t see? Are you blind?!”
“I promise it was just an accident!”
However, the damage has been done. The quarrel spreads to the rest of the flock, and the birds begin to take sides. They start to see each other as mortal enemies as the sounds of their bickering are heard all over the farmland.
The hunter and his wife grin from ear to ear and throws the net onto the birds.
Since the quails were busy arguing, they had forgotten all about the plan.
“We’ve been captured!” one of the birds cried out.
“Fly up this way!”
“No, that way!”
“Don’t believe him. Why do we always have to do what he says?”
“That’s right. All you do is make orders. I’m tired of your commands!”
The quails continue to bicker, but now it’s too late. The huntsman bags up the net with all of the quails and sells each and every one of them at the market. He and his wife make a lot of money from these birds.
So, what was the real cause of their predicament in this event? Was it caused by an accident or by being unable to forgive one another, which led to disharmony?
