นิทานคลาสสิค ที่ให้ข้อคิดเกี่ยวกับความซื่อสัตย์ได้เป็นอย่างดี กับเรื่องเด็กเลี้ยงแกะ ที่เบื่อการเลี้ยงแกะในทุ่งหญ้ากว้างทุกวัน จึงอยากหาอะไรทำแก้เบื่อโดยการโกหกผู้คนในหมู่บ้าน โดยที่ไม่รู้ว่าผลของการโกหกจะเป็นอย่างไร
กาลครั้งหนึ่งนานมาแล้ว ท่ามกลางอากาศเย็นสบาย กลางเทือกเขาใหญ่ยังมีทุ่งหญ้ากว้างไกลสุดลูกหูลูกตา ที่นั่นมีฝูงแกะตัวสีขาว ขนปุยๆ ยืนเล็มหญ้าอย่างเอร็ดอร่อย
♫ แบะ แบะ แบะ ฉันเป็นแกะร้องแบะ ฉันกินหญ้าด้วยแหละ ไม่ใช่แพะ ฉันเป็นแกะ (นะจะบอกให้) ที่สำคัญจะบอกให้ (อยากรู้ป่าว) แกะน้อย แกะใหญ่ มันชอบร้องแบะ แบะ ฟังนะฉันไม่โกหก (เข้ามาฟัง) แกะมันร้อง แบะ แบะ ♫

ที่นั่นนอกจะมีแกะสีขาวปุกปุยแล้วก็ยังมีเด็กเลี้ยงแกะ

เด็กชายจิมมี่ เด็กเลี้ยงแกะ เดินร้องเพลงไปตามชายทุ่ง ใกล้ภูเขาใหญ่ เขาพาแกะน้อยแกะใหญ่ไปกินหญ้าอยู่เป็นประจำ และนั่งเฝ้าฝูงแกะอยู่อย่างนั้นทุกวันทุกเวลา และจิมมี่ก็มักจะคิดว่า

จิมมี่เด็กเลี้ยงแกะ ยืนเฝ้าแกะ นั่งเฝ้าแกะ นอนเฝ้าแกะ แล้วจิมมี่ก็พูดออกมาว่า
“เฮ้อ น่าเบื่อจริงๆเลย หาอะไรทำดีกว่า”
จิมมี่นั่งนับแกะ หนึ่ง สอง สาม จิมมี่นั่งนับแกะอีก ห้าสิบหก ห้าสิบเจ็ด จิมมี่นั่งนับแกะจนครบ หนึ่งร้อยตัว แต่จิมมี่ก็ยังไม่หายเบื่อ หาอะไรที่มันสนุกๆ กว่านี้ทำดีกว่า หึหึหึ จิมมี่คิดแล้วจิมมี่ก็ลุกขึ้นสะบัดแขน สะบัดขา ตั้งท่า แล้วก็ออกวิ่งจากชายทุ่งไปยังหมู่บ้าน
ที่หมู่บ้านที่โอบล้อมด้วยเทือกเขาใหญ่มหึมา ชาวบ้านในเมืองกำลังช่วยกันทำงานแข็งขัน ทุกคนมีแต่คนดีตั้งหน้าตั้งตาทำมาหากิน และขณะที่พวกเขากำลังทำงานอยู่นั่นเอง จิมมี่ก็วิ่งหน้าตั้งมาพร้อมกับตะโกนว่า
“ช่วยด้วยๆ ช่วยด้วยจ้า ช่วยด้วย หมาป่าจะมากินแกะ ช่วยด้วย”
“หะ อะไรนะ”
“หมาป่าจะมากินแกะของผม ช่วยด้วยคร้าบ”
“อ้าว งั้นรีบไปช่วยจิมมี่กันเถอะ ไปๆ พวกเรา”
ชาวบ้านทุกคนต่างวางมือจากงานที่ทำอยู่แล้วพากันวิ่งไปยังชายทุ่งเพื่อช่วยแกะทันที แต่พอไปถึงก็พบพวกแกะยืนเล็มหญ้าอยู่ตามปกติ
“อ้าว ไหนล่ะหมาป่า ไม่เห็นมีสักตัว”
“นั่นน่ะสิ”
ชาวบ้านไม่เห็นหมาป่าเลยสักตัว ก็เกิดสงสัย ฝ่ายจิมมี่นั้นกลับหัวเราะออกมาเสียงดัง นอนกลิ้งไปมาด้วยความตลกขบขันที่เห็นชาวบ้านพากันแตกตื่นมากขนาดนั้น
(เสียงหัวเราะ)
“ไม่มีหรอกครับหมาป่าน่ะ ผมแค่เบื่อๆ ก็เลยหยอกคุณลุงคุณป้าให้ได้ออกกำลังกายเล่นเท่านั้น”
“เจ้าจิมมี่ เจ้านี่มันน่านักนะ”
ชาวบ้านก็พากันโกรธ แล้วก็กลับไป
“(เสียงหัวเราะ) สนุกจริงๆเลย”
วันต่อมาจิมมี่ก็นั่งเลี้ยงแกะ ยืนเลี้ยงแกะ แล้วก็นอนเลี้ยงแกะอีก พอเบื่อเขาก็นับแกะอีก ในที่สุดจิมมี่ก็บ่นออกมาว่า
“เฮ้อ น่าเบื่อจริงๆเลย หาอะไรสนุกๆทำดีกว่า” แล้วจิมมี่ก็ลุกขึ้น สะบัดแขนสะขา ตั้งท่า แล้วก็ออกวิ่งจากชายทุ่งไปยังหมู่บ้าน
“ช่วยด้วยจ้า ช่วยด้วย หมาป่าจะมากินแกะ ช่วยด้วย”
ชาวบ้านกำลังทำงานกันอยู่ก็รีบวางมือและรีบไปช่วยแกะทันที พอมาถึงก็ปรากฎว่าไม่พบหมาป่าอีกแล้ว
“อะไรกันเนี่ย ไม่เห็นมีหมาป่าเลยสักตัว”
“ก็เพราะว่ามันไม่มีน่ะสิ ฮิฮิฮิฮิฮิ”
♫ เจ้าเด็กเลี้ยงแกะ เจ้ามันชอบโกหก เด็กโกหกเป็นเด็กไม่ดี ต่อไปนี้ไม่ขอยุ่งเกี่ยว (ไปพวกเราอย่าไปยุ่งกับเด็กขี้โกหกอีกเลย) พวกเราไม่น่าเลยเชียว เด็กเลี้ยงแกะหลอก พูดไม่ออก (ไปๆ ไปๆ พวกเราไป เสียเวลาทำมาหากิน ไป ไป ไป ไปกันดีกว่า เด็กขี้โกหก ไม่อยากยุ่งกับมันแล้ว)♫
ชาวบ้านพากันโมโหเป็นอันมากที่ถูกเด็กเลี้ยงแกะหลอกเอา ระหว่างนี้จิ่มมี่เด็กเลี้ยงแกะกับหัวร่องอหงาย กลิ้งตัวไปมาบนพื้นหญ้าอย่างสนุกสนาน
เจ้าเด็กเลี้ยงแกะหารู้ไม่ว่า ใกล้ๆกันนั้นมีสายตาอันตรายคู่หนึ่งแอบมองอยู่ มันคือหมาป่า
♫ ไอ้เด็กเลี้ยงแกะ มันชอบโกหก เด็กโกหกเป็นเด็กไม่ดี ไม่มีใครมาคอยยุ่งเกี่ยว ใครก็ร้องไม่น่าเลยเชียว ถูกเด็กเลี้ยงแกะหลอก พูดไม่ออก ♫
ได้ทีของหมาป่าของข้า พวกชาวบ้านกลับไปกันหมดแล้ว พวกแกะจะถูกกัดกินจนหมด ฮะฮะฮะฮ่า
หมาป่าคิดดังนั้นก็กระโจนเข้ากัดแกะน้อยใหญ่ที่น่าสงสารทันที จิมมี่เห็นเข้าดังนั้นก็ตกใจเป็นอันมาก
“ตายแล้ว แย่แล้ว หมาป่ามากินแกะจริง ๆ ต้องรีบไปบอกชาวบ้านมาช่วยแล้ว”
ว่าแล้วเด็กเลี้ยงแกะรีบวิ่งตรงไปยังหมู่บ้านทันที ชาวบ้านที่กำลังทำงานอยู่นั้นไม่มีใครใส่ใจกับเสียงเรียกขอความช่วยเหลือของเด็กเลี้ยงแกะเลยแม้แต่คนเดียว ต่างคนก็ต่างทำงานไปตามปกติ เพราะไม่มีใครชอบเด็กขี้โกหก
เมื่อไม่มีใครเชื่อเด็กเลี้ยงแกะขี้โกหกก็ไม่มีใครไปช่วย ในที่สุดแกะน้อยใหญ่ก็ถูกหมาป่าใจร้ายกินจนหมดเกลี้ยง เด็กเลี้ยงแกะถูกลงโทษเพราะไม่สามารถรักษาแกะไว้ได้

Once upon a time, amidst cool weather, in the middle of a large mountain range, was a vast field of grass as far as the eye could see. There was a flock of white, fluffy sheep that stood grazing merrily.

All the villagers immediately put down their work and ran to the field's border to help the sheep. But when they got there, all they found were sheep grazing as usual.
